Lagoa is redefining the next generation of 3D CAD by enabling users to work from anywhere and collaborate in real time with just a web browser. With advanced Patent Pending 3D technology and harnessing the power of the cloud, Lagoa enables users to improve Product Development through jaw-dropping photorealistic visualization and interactive experiences. Lagoa also encourages a more social and unified design process between product designers, developers, and consumers via revolutionary publishing tools. With Lagoa, no plugins or installation is required.Lagoa started in mid 2011 by physics developer Thiago da Costa, the author of simulation plugin Lagoa Multi-physics. After 10 years of working in 3D production in the industries of Design, TV, Films, and Games, Thiago acquired first-hand experience of the challenges in 3D creation. Thiago realized that delivering innovation within the desktop software industry was an inherently difficult process that required users to run heavy hardware, software installs, and serial numbers. Thiago envisioned Lagoa as the next generation solution that would enable users to create with ease by having up-to-date access to the latest innovations in technology.Joined by pioneer optics simulation scientist Arno Zinke (Ph.d Physically Based Rendering) and seasoned Software Engineer Dov Amihod, the technical trio implemented the foundation of Lagoa, the first collaborative 3D editor with integrated photo-real rendering. The technology was designed from the ground up to be collaborative and accessible from anywhere through a vanilla web browser with the heavy computations to be done in the cloud. Under the hood, the group built a flexible framework that was going to be aggressively extended, while focusing on their first use-case: Photoreal Product Visualization. The company was founded in February 2012 with their first hire and an intern. Venture Capital financing enabled Lagoa to attract key talents in 3D developement as well as researchers with Ph.ds in Geometry and Graphics, who rapidly contributed to the platform’s development. In late 2012, Lagoa acquired 3DTin, a browser based 3D Modeling tool. Lagoa maintains 3DTin as an independent and free community product, while also building a professional extended CAD feature-set in its collaborative environment.Lagoa launched publicly in April 2013, focusing purely on Rendering and has acquired its first customers in manufacturing, mechanical engineering, consumer products, fashion and apparel.Lagoa is headquartered in Montreal with R & D in Germany.
